The search for the best 10 volunteers for the 2026 All Ghana Open Badminton Championships is now underway following the opening of the application process closing Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 23:59hrs GMT.
2026 remarks an accurate journey as our National Tournament becomes a qualifier towards the African and World Championships, Seniors and Veterans Championships. The move to the Sports Hall has seen the pace of change accelerate further. With Volunteers Orientation starting from March 15, 2026. This upgrade in competition means that National and future talents abounds for us. You will be provided with Free accommodation, Full Board Meals and Certification for your career reference

You can now apply to volunteer at the nation’s oldest and most prestigious badminton tournament.
The storied championships return to the Arena from 20 to 22 March 2026, and we’re searching for passionate volunteers to join the team.
With crowds set to be welcomed back to the tournament, volunteers will, as always, play a crucial role in the running of the Event. The friendly faces capture the passion and excitement of the Event, and their focus and dedication make it a welcoming and compelling event for all involved.
Volunteering gives the opportunity to gain new skills, meet like-minded people, give back to the community, feel part of the team, and have fun!
You can now apply for up to 2 volunteer roles, ranging from field of play to media centre, umpiring to mixed zones and venue operations. There are roles in accreditation, athlete services, media centre, results service, shuttle control, team liaison and transport. Technical official positions are now ding for qualified line judges and umpires. Those are central to ensuring fair match play and following the laws of Badminton.
There are roles to cater for different skill sets- if you’re good behind the wheel, then transport is right up your street.
If you’re observant and good with IT, you will smash it in result services or shuttle control. And if you’re a bundle of energy, you’re ready-made for the field of play or venue operations teams.
Check out the full range of roles, along with an overview of what each involves, below:
• Accreditation – Accreditation Team Members present the friendly face of the tournament at the point of arrival of teams, volunteers, officials and VIPs, welcoming all to the Event and handing out accreditation.
• Athlete Services – Athletes Services Team Members present a friendly face to athletes and team officials in the Practice area. They will maintain the facilities and help to coordinate the practice and final warm-up rotas, as well as the Player Green Room.
• Field of Play Entrance –The field of play Entrance liaises with Sports Presentation to send the athletes. Technical officials and court maintenance volunteers onto the field of play at the correct time and order.
• Field of Play – Field of Play (FOP) Team Members support the set-up, maintenance, changeover and breakdown of the Field of Play, including the final warm-up courts.
•Line Judge – THIS ROLE IS FOR QUALIFIED LINE JUDGES ONLY: Technical officials are central to ensuring fair match play follows the laws of Badminton and competition regulations. A line judge is responsible for indicating where a shuttle landed ‘in’ or ‘out’ of the shuttle land near the lines he/she is assigned to monitor.
•Media Centre – Media Centre Team Members support the attending accredited media, TV production crews and event photographers by manning the media centre throughout the Championships, responding to requests for interviews/information and access, and ensuring their comfort and well-being. Some content generation may also be requested.
•Media Mixed Zone – As the first point of contact for players coming off the court, Mixed Zone Team members provide crucial support to accredited media by ensuring the efficient operations of the championship mixed zone (where the world’s media interview players as they exit the Field of Play after every match).
• Results Service – Result, Service Team Members help coordinate the tournament software, liaise with the umpire and announcers, display matches/scores for spectators and provide information for other key workers to help with their roles.
•Shuttle Control – Shuttle Control Team Members help to maintain a safe and clean playing environment for Badminton athletes throughout the competition by collecting and replacing shuttles before and after each match.
•Team Liaison – Team Liaison offices are the main point of contact for groups and
Individual players during their stay at the Event. They are vital in presenting the friendly face of the tournament from the point of arrival of teams and acting as the Intermediary contact between groups and tournament organizers.
•Transport – Transport Team Members meet and greet key client groups and transport them to pre-determined destinations.
•Umpire – THIS ROLE IS FOR QUALIFIED UMPIRES ONLY – Technical officials are central to regulating badminton on-court and ensuring fair match play, which follows the laws of Badminton and the various competition regulations. The umpire has authority over a particular match and is in charge of the court and its immediate surroundings.
•Venue Access – Venue Access Team Members share information and direct volunteers, players and officials to appropriate areas based on their accreditation.
•Venue Operations – Events Operations Team Members help with the field play set-up, changeover and breakdown and maintain specific areas at the Event.
•Volunteer Services – Volunteer Services Team Members are the first point of call for all volunteers. They distribute resources, support the volunteers and help facilitate the best possible volunteer experience.
