Badminton is a\u00a0sport for all<\/em>, meaning that it is accessible to men and women of all ages and for people with a wide range of impairments.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Para-Badminton, like other para-sports, uses a classification system to ensure that players with a similar level of impairment compete against each other.\u00a0The Badminton World Federation recognizes six classification groups, as listed below:<\/p>

Wheelchair 1 (WH 1)<\/h5>

Players in this class require a wheelchair to play badminton. Players in this Sport Class usually have impairment in both lower limbs and trunk function.<\/p>

Wheelchair 2 (WH 2)<\/h5>

A player in this class could have impairment in one or both lower limbs and minimal or no impairment in the trunk.<\/p>

Standing Lower (SL 3)<\/h5>

In this class a player must play standing. The player could have impairment in one or both lower limbs and poor walking\/running balance.<\/p>

Standing Lower (SL 4)<\/h5>

A second standing class where the player has lesser impairment compared to Sport Class SL 3. The player could have impairment in one or both lower limbs and minimal impairment in walking\/running balance.<\/p>

Standing Upper (SU 5)<\/h5>

The player in this class has impairment of the upper limbs.<\/p>

Short Stature (SH 6)<\/h5>

These are players with short stature due to a genetic condition often referred to as \u201cdwarfism\u201d.<\/p>
