Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026

The Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026 is the fourth edition of the Summer Youth Olympics, an international sporting, cultural, and educational event organized by the International Olympic Committee for young athletes aged up to 17 years. It will take place in Dakar, Senegal, from 31 October to 13 November 2026, marking the first time an Olympic-branded event is hosted on African soil and showcasing the motto “Africa welcomes, Dakar celebrates.” Around 2,700 young athletes from around the world are expected to compete in 25 sports, including badminton, athletics, swimming, basketball 3×3, and more, with competitions designed to promote excellence, cultural exchange, and the Olympic values of respect, friendship, and perseverance. There will also be participant engagement and educational programs alongside the sporting events to inspire youth and support long-term development in sport and leadership.
