2026 National Doubles Badminton Open Championships

 The National Doubles Badminton Open Championships brings together top athletes from across the country to compete at the highest national level. The tournament forms a critical part of Ghana’s performance pathway and serves as a major selection event for the J. E. Wilson Ghana International, where outstanding players and pairs will be considered for national representation.

The competition will feature Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles.

Although singles events are included, greater emphasis will be placed on doubles disciplines, where partnership quality, tactical coordination, communication, and synergy will be closely assessed for national team selection.

Matches will be conducted using a structured format incorporating both round-robin and knockout stages, ensuring fair competition, adequate match exposure, and comprehensive performance evaluation. The tournament is expected to attract top-ranked and emerging players from across the country, providing a platform for new partnerships to be tested and established combinations to be strengthened.

National Para Badminton Championships

Registration is officially open for the 2026 National Doubles Badminton Open Championships and the National Para Badminton Championships, two key events on the Ghana Badminton Association’s competitive calendar. These championships provide athletes with a high-performance platform to showcase talent, compete at national level, and secure selection opportunities for major international competitions leading up to the LA 2028 Paralympics

The National Para Badminton Championships is a flagship inclusive event aimed at promoting equity, accessibility, and high-performance opportunities for athletes with impairments. The championship serves as a key selection pathway for the National Para Badminton Team, as Ghana prepares towards qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.

The event is open to all persons with disabilities who are interested in playing badminton and progressing to the international stage. It provides a structured platform for new and existing para-athletes to showcase their abilities, develop their skills, and be integrated into the national development pathway.

Athletes will be assessed based on technical performance, consistency, tactical understanding, physical fitness, classification suitability, and overall international potential. The event will be conducted in line with international para badminton standards to ensure fairness, competitiveness, and proper athlete classification, while also supporting the identification and development of emerging talent.

General Information

Both championships are open to eligible athletes nationwide and represent important opportunities within Ghana’s badminton development pathway. Registration is subject to competition regulations, and early entry is encouraged as participation may close once capacity is reached.
