FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Accra, Ghana – May 22, 2026 – Ghana Badminton today officially released its highly anticipated Mid-Year Calendar 2026, a comprehensive roadmap designed to accelerate the sport’s development, expand international competition pathways, and strengthen the nation’s footprint on the world stage.

With a global digital reach exceeding two million views across Ghana Badminton’s platforms, this mid-year strategic document signals a new era of professional governance, athlete-centred programming, and commercial partnerships. The calendar—crafted following extensive consultations with the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the Africa Badminton Federation (BCA), and title sponsors—outlines a packed schedule of high-performance training camps, ranking tournaments, and grassroots activation events spanning June through December 2026.

“This is not merely a schedule—it is our declaration of intent,” said Evans Yeboah, President of Ghana Badminton. “The Mid-Year Calendar 2026 reflects our commitment to transparency, long-term athlete growth, and engaging our 1.4 million global followers with world-class content and competition. Ghana is ready to serve.”

STRATEGIC PILLARS OF THE MID YEAR CALENDAR 2026

The newly released calendar is built on four strategic pillars:

  1. Athlete Pathway & Ranking Events – Six BWF-sanctioned satellite and international series tournaments will be hosted across Accra, offering Ghanaian shuttlers critical ranking points towards the 2026 Youth Olympic Games and the Road to Los Angeles 2028.
  2. Grassroots to Glory – A nationwide badminton capacity building festival (June to July 2026) targeting 5,000+ new junior players, supported by inept international coaching clinics led by certified BWF coaches.
  3. Commercial & Broadcast Integration – For the first time, eight calendar events will feature live streaming and multi-language commentary, leveraging Ghana Badminton’s million members + cross-platform views to attract new sponsors.
  4. High-Performance Residential Camps – Two invitation-only camps (July and November 2026) in Sweden and Accra, with international sparring partners from Nigeria, Egypt, and India.
