Circular for Unauthorized Tournaments

Circular for Unauthorized Tournaments

Accra, Ghana-April 17, 2024 Ghana Badminton- The National Governing Body of Badminton in Ghana has cautioned its registered players, coaches, and technical staff, asking them to stay away from unauthorized tournaments that are not sanctioned and not listed on the annual event calendar.

The National Federation has always been committed to upholding the highest standards of the Sport, and we take any violations of these rules very seriously. Our responsibility is to ensure that all tournaments and matches are played fairly and transparently and that all players and teams are held to the same standards- this, unfortunately, has not been met in the past three years by these organizers, mostly implementing unorthodox rules, alien event playing regulations and match-fixing activities-None of these, as the Governing body of the Sport will entertain, as we remain committed and ensuring the safety and well being of all involved in the Sport.

The National Federation does not recognize unauthorized event activity, which is considered a breach of our regulations. Registered Badminton Players, Coaches, and Technical Officials should not participate in these activities as per the Constitutional mandate of Ghana Badminton.

We strictly advise that registered players of affiliated and shared interest units should not get divulged and participate in any such unauthorized tournaments, which will cause the deactivation of their IDs and debarment of any tournaments. We urge all our registered players to avoid such events and report any such activity immediately whilst admonishing all organizers to use the appropriate channel of sanctioning events under our Sport.

Ghana Badminton continues to express unwavering support for the progress made within our 2017-2027 Strategic Mission Plan. As the sport's national governing body, we are thrilled by the success in development, events, governance, and the net effect on our athletes and affiliates, as well as our growing community and partnerships.

Prepare for our 18th  2024 All Ghana Badminton Championships (25-26 May 2024).
