Welcome to the Sport of Badminton

Badminton is one of the world’s most popular and fastest racket sports, celebrated for its dynamic pace, agility, and strategic gameplay.

The Objective of Badminton
The goal is to hit the shuttlecock over the net so that it lands within the opponent’s court, while preventing it from landing on your own side. Points are scored on every serve, and matches are played with intensity, speed, and precision.

A Brief Overview of the Game

  • The Court: An official badminton court is 13.4 meters (44 feet) long and 6.1 meters (20 feet) wide for doubles, with a narrower width for singles.
  • The Serve: The server must serve from within their service court, diagonally to the opponent’s service court. The serve can be a crucial strategic tool in gaining an early advantage.
  • The Rally: Players hit the shuttlecock back and forth over the net. The shuttlecock may only be touched once before it is returned.
  • Scoring: A point is won if the shuttlecock lands inside the opponent’s court boundaries or if the opponent commits a fault (e.g., hitting into the net or out of bounds).
  • Winning: Matches are played in a best-of-three games format. The first player or pair to reach 21 points (with at least a 2-point lead) wins the game.
