About the Ghana Badminton Coach Licence Scheme
Beginning in 2024, the Ghana Badminton Coach Licence Scheme was implemented to register and recognize coaches who are active, knowledgeable, and committed to current coaching methods. The scheme aims to establish a kite mark of quality for badminton coaching in Ghana and to support the professional development of our coaching workforce.
Licensed coaches are officially registered on the Ghana Badminton database, ensuring they hold an up-to-date qualification and operate within a clear ethical and technical framework.
Benefits of Becoming a Licensed Coach
Insurance Cover: All coaches registered on the Coach Licence Scheme receive up to GHC 1 Million Public Liability Insurance , providing peace of mind while coaching.
Exclusive Discounts: Licensed coaches gain access to discounts and exclusive offers from Ghana Badminton partners (e.g., equipment suppliers, sports brands, and training resources).
Professional Recognition: Your licence confirms your status as a qualified, active, and trusted coach within the Ghanaian badminton community.
Newly Qualified Coaches
Any newly qualified coach will receive a complimentary Ghana Badminton Coach Licence valid until the next renewal period, allowing you to start your coaching journey with full benefits immediately.
Licence Fees & Duration
Coaches can purchase a licence for either a one-year or a three-year cycle.

How to Apply
In order to purchase a Coach Licence, please follow these steps:
Create an account on the Ghana Badminton portal (if you have not already done so).
Complete the online Coach Licence Application Form.
Proceed to online payment via the secure payment gateway.

Coaching During Competitions: Rules & Conduct
To ensure fair play and maintain the integrity of the sport, Ghana Badminton has established clear policies regarding coaching at tournaments and the expected conduct of all licensed coaches.
Competition Rules
Ghana Badminton has adopted the following for all sanctioned tournaments:
Scoring System: The official 3 x 21 rally point scoring system is used for all sanctioned tournaments. Clubs are encouraged to adopt this system for local competitions as well.
Coaching at Competitions:
Open Age & Masters Categories: Coaching is permitted in accordance with BWF rules.
Age-Group Competitions (U19 / U17 / U15 / U13): Strict coaching regulations apply to ensure athlete development and fair competition. Specific guidelines regarding when and how coaches may enter the field of play are outlined in the official Ghana Badminton Competition Rules. (Note: Coaches should refer to the specific tournament guidelines or the National Sports Authority regulations for age-group events.)
Code of Conduct
All licensed coaches are required to read, understand, and adhere to the following policies. Failure to do so may result in suspension or revocation of the Coach Licence.
Coaches’ Code of Conduct: Coaches must uphold the highest standards of integrity, respect, and professionalism when dealing with athletes, officials, parents, and fellow coaches.
Commitment to Fair Play: Coaches are expected to promote sportsmanship, respect for opponents, and the spirit of the game at all times.
