"World Badminton Day provides an opportunity to celebrate all that is great about the sport, and I hope many millions of people discover how fabulous the sport is – I want everyone to pick up a racket and have a go – who knows where that will lead to!" said Yeboah Evans, President of the Ghana Badminton Association. "Whether at your local badminton club, school, university or just in the park, this event is a brilliant chance for long-time and brand-new fans to come together and celebrate the sport."

To mark the occasion and join the global festivities, Ghana will host a variety of activities at West African Senior High School, including equipment donations to the school, friendly badminton matches for students and teachers, coaching sessions by professional players, demonstrations and skill challenges, a "Raise A Racket" photo booth for creative social media entries, and informational sessions on the benefits of badminton, active living and a sport for all.

The global "Raise A Racket" campaign encourages everyone to participate by taking creative photos or videos while playing badminton. Participants can upload their entries to Instagram using the hashtags #Ghanabadminton #RaiseARacket and #WorldBadmintonDay, and tag @bwf.official for a chance to win exciting prizes, including a trip to the HSBC BWF World Tour Finals in Hangzhou, China.

"World Badminton Day is more than just a celebration; it's a movement to bring people together through sport," noted Dr Benjamen Baah Konadu, Events Director of the Ghana Badminton Association. "The game of badminton requires agility, reactions, power, and delicate touches. It's a sport for all ages and genders, and it's fantastic to see our community come together to celebrate it. We will also donate some Badminton Equipment to the WASS School, which has shown the process and development of the Badminton Sport, including a school product that excelled and represented Ghana at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, United Kingdom and 13th African Games here in Ghana."

"On behalf of the Governors, Staff and Students of the School, we are delighted to be selected as the only school in West Africa for this activity and world celebration, and we thank the Ghana Badminton Association for this honour. The equipment donation and continuing support for the sport of badminton in our school is enhancing student sports life careers, eschewing winning progression for our students, and we look forward to projecting our school as the best school in West Africa," Shared Dr Shine Ofori, Headmistress of West African Senior High School.
