Player Career Benefits,
Scholarship Opportunities & Resources
Range of resources to help players with their competitive careers and to map out post-playing career pathways.
Through BWF and the National Olympic Committee, we help provide a range of resources to help players with their competitive careers and to map out post-playing career pathways. The following links provide the resources for the various programmes:
A. Player Performance Opportunities
- Olympic & Youth Olympic Games Scholarship Programme
- BWF Female Participation Grant
BWF boosts the development of talented athletes at national and regional levels through a variety of programmes and grants, including for Para badminton through the BWF Female Participation Grant.
B. Player Dual Career Resources
IOC Resource – Athlete365 Career+
Athlete365 Career+ is a programme that empowers athletes to maximise their education and employment opportunities. It supports athletes seeking dual career or post-sport career opportunities, helping them discover their potential and plan for their life beyond the world of competitive sport. Athlete365 Career+ (formerly called Athlete Career Programme) is an IOC Athletes’ Commission initiative and is delivered with The Adecco Group.
IOC Resource – IOC Athlete Learning Gateway (Online)
BWF players have access to the IOC online athlete resource, including the Athlete Learning Gateway, which offers athletes short courses on topics such as nutrition, psychology, and career transitions, etc. These courses are available in multiple languages and can be taken at a player’s convenience.
BWF FastTrack Course
BWF has developed a FastTrack Course which combines content from the Coach Education Level 1 and Level 2 Courses. The course is specifically designed to support the transition from playing to coaching, in elite international-level badminton players. The courses are organized in partnership with BWF’s Continental Confederations.
BWF-WAoS Scholarship Programmes
Badminton World Federation in partnership with the World Academy of Sport has launched various scholarship programmes aimed at dual-career athletes. All programmes are 100 per cent online, recognizing that athletes require flexibility at different stages of their career.
The scholarship application process for each programme is determined by the intake timeline and programmes are open to both badminton and Para badminton athletes.
IOC has developed the Sports Mental Health Toolkit to provide advice and support Athlete’s Mental Health. The resources are aimed at assisting Olympic Movement stakeholders to develop and implement initiatives related to the protection and promotion of mental health and well-being in elite athletes.
