Mobile Badminton Community Hotspots

The Mobile Badminton Community Hotspot concept is an evolution detail of the previous Talent Development programme.

This organic approach will engage with clubs, individuals or areas of activity which are producing three or more players into the Ghana Arise or Aspire programmes and who want to actively engage with the performance staff and programmes.

Licensed Coaches will receive additional capacity support, working as part of the national programmes in which they have players involved, working closely with the Ghana performance coaches both in training and competition environments and be provided with additional resources where possible to support them further.

Awards, Grant and Scholarships

Working in close partnership with Government, Olympic and Paralympic Committees, Partners & Sponsors, Ghana Badminton have the opportunity to nominate players for two different funding awards that are available to support young athletes who are working towards being world-class players in the future. Ghana Badminton will consider players who are currently engaged in the Ghana Junior and Aspire Training Squads and nomination is prioritised from the Ghana Junior Squad, downwards.

Nominations for these awards are made as and when available (please note that the final award decision is made by the Partners, and nomination by Ghana Badminton cannot guarantee an award will be given).

The Ghana Skills Awards starting 2024 is a programme of awards designed by the Performance Team with the aim of giving guidance of:

  • What players need to practise – in line with the Mission 2027 principles, ensuring player have developed the skills they need at each stage
  • How players need to practise – How players need to engage in their practice in order to maximise their learning and be able to transfer this learning to the training environment

The awards are made up of a series of tasks and challenges, with each award progressing in difficulty. These awards provide a framework of development for players and coaches to use, and are part of the performance standards the team look for as part of the selection processes for national training squads.
