Women and Girls

How Ghana Badminton is engaging more women and girls into the sport and improving their experiences.

Women in Badminton

Ghana Badminton aims to achieve gender parity in Badminton. The AGM in November 2020 also adopted the International Olympic Committee Gender equality vision by having 50% women leading in all aspects of the sports and coaching by 2027.

In Ghana, females make up 50.7% of the population and males 49.3%, giving a national sex ratio of 97 males for every 100 females (census data). However, only 11% of our paid-up members, 2% of coaches and just 6% of club leadership are females. Therefore, we will unapologetically focus on increasing women and girls’ involvement in our sport. We will also make Badminton a space where females feel welcomed, valued and visible and have the opportunity to progress.

Join the Women in Badminton (WiB) Community!

Women in Badminton group has been set up to create an online space for women in Badminton. This is to share experiences, ideas and promote women’s and girls’ participation in the sport. Please email us at bag@ghanabadminton.org
