The Talent Pathway contains four tiers of progression that sit astride the adjoining Talent System and showcase the various stages of development for Badminton players from the age of 11 through to Team Ghana representation.
The Talent Pathway contains four tiers of progression that sit astride the adjoining Talent System and showcase the various stages of development for Badminton players from the age of 11 through Team Ghana’s representation.
Ghana Badminton is excited to announce a new Junior Performance Pathway in all regions across the Country. This is to assist in the rebuilding of grassroots and junior development, to help each athlete reach their highest potential in the sport.
The next rung on the ladder is the Talent Programme (TP), designed to provide players and coaches with opportunities to come together, train and compete against other nations to expose Ghanaian talent to as many different playing styles and conditions as possible before potential Ghana selection. Taking the learnings from several Ghanaian countries, we will prioritise Under 14 & Under 15 options.
Following the Ghana Talent Programme comes the Ghana Development Programmes (GDPs), which are based within educational institutions and cater for 16 to 19-year-old players.
The pinnacle is a natural selection for Ghana at Under 16, Under 18, Under 20 and senior levels, and that recognition will, of course, come as a consequence of players progressing successfully up through the Pathway.
Commencing from the 1st of August each year, athletes can work with coaches in the pathway programs. These programs are designed to support athletes and their individual development. The pathways have been established to ensure we provide support and guidance to juniors, raise awareness, give direction and understanding and encourage participation at all levels.
The Performance Pathway for Badminton juniors includes new Selection Criteria for those athletes wishing to be considered and eligible for National Representative positions and National Juniors Events each year.
