Entries Open For 2023 West African Badminton Open: is an invited play for all ages
With everyone open to participate, either as a casual beginner, intermediate or elite Badminton performer, this year's 2023 West African Open will return on December 1-3, 2023, as the cream of the crop goes head-to-head in the capital, Accra.
With over 236 mammoth entries expected, this is an individual and club's open championship event with men's and women's singles and doubles and mixed doubles events. The age categories for the teams, Juniors, Seniors and veterans/masters are U15, U19, Seniors,
30-34 Social/Championship division, 35-44 Social/Championship division, 45-54 Social/Championship division, 55-64 Social/Championship division, 65+ Social/Championship division.
The Ghana Badminton Tournament Director, Delawoe Nyanyo, shared, "Following our multiple successes in the World Championships in October in the USA, we have expanded our events to cover regional countries whilst showcasing local content development across all areas. The Event is in line with our strategic plan Mission 2027, teaching our high-performance Programme with increasing global results and participation, enabling us to prioritize selected players capable of achieving national glory experience and challenge world-level opposition as part of their development in line with our Performance Programmes aiming to win African, Commonwealth, World, Paralympic and Olympic glory.
The 2023 West African Open is the most essential selection event this year. Amateur and professional athletes from the various badminton clubs and shared interest groups in Ghana will perform at a top level and put on an unforgettable show that will contribute to the growing popularisation of the sport in our country. "
Representing every member of the Badminton Community in Ghana, entries are closing in 20 days, and we cannot wait to have a "showdown." to release and burn out some stress, network and engage in the Olympic sport of Badminton.
There will be a direct qualification and elimination draw process so everyone can get enough to play–for this year's Event. During this 2023 West African Badminton Open, the National Team towards our plan also allow for further networking, competition, and educational scholarships.
Players, both local and international residents players from across the nook and cranny, will attend the 2023 West African Badminton Open to make staff play Badminton together, promote staff friendship, build business verticals, and strengthen company cohesion and support communication& interactive platforms, whilst learning from each other and improving their badminton skills.
The winner of each category is awarded a national gold medal and crowned the 2023 West African Badminton Open Veterans Champion in their age category. The runner-up gets a silver medal, while the third-place winner receives a bronze medal.
We invite clubs and affiliate Associations to enter a maximum of six male players and six female players and three pairs in each of the up to five events in each age category.
The 2023 West African Badminton Open is a Grade 2 National Tournament with the highest-ranking points under the National Ranking System. To learn more about this, Click here.
With that being said, we would want to cordially invite all individuals living in West Africa with a passion to compete for the glory of business, fun and networking. Notable community clubs from Edwanase Badminton Club, Kumasi Club C, Tesano, Waa, Koforidua, OPASS, Akyem Asafo, Akyem Tafo, Stadium, Tema, Ho, Akuse, Elmina Axim, Elubo, Obuasi, Agona, Takoradi, Akim Oda, Cape Coast, Adenta, Achimota, GS Plaza, TIS, Aflao, Honolog, Don Bosco, Sunyani, Asogli and Sogakope Badminton Clubs to mention but a few are taking part in the weekend fun field competition. With previous champions, Tesano Club, Nyakrom Club and Adenta will look to keep their national titles. We have set the stage for new debutants to surprise everyone.
