Strategic Plan

This Ghana Badminton Association Strategic Plan (2022–2032) is a comprehensive roadmap aimed at transforming badminton into a widely played, well-structured, and high-performing sport in Ghana. The plan is built on four strategic pillars — Participation, People, Places, and Performance — each supported by clear goals, initiatives, and measurable targets.

Strategic Pillars & Goals

1. Participation

  • Increase adult players to 4.2 million by 2032.

  • Introduce badminton in 500+ schools covering 98% of all schools (Primary, Secondary, and universities)

  • Raise Para badminton initiatives to cover 66% of the demography by 2030

  • Launch an annual Inter-School Badminton League from 2027.

2. People

  • Double-licensed coaches to 640.

  • Increase licensed officials to 432.

  • Promote inclusion: female players, para-badminton, Special Olympics.

  • Strengthen volunteer and official networks.

3. Places

  • Ensure 80% of the badminton population has a club/league within  60-minute drive

  • Establish community hubs, corporate leagues, and social venues.

  • Grow clubs from 50 to 400+.

4. Performance

  • Achieve world top 50 rankings in senior/junior categories by 2032

  • Qualify 2 athletes for the 2026 Youth Olympics
  • Qualify 1 athlete for the 2028 LA Olympics; aim for the Quarterfinals by 2032.

  • Top 2030 Commonwealth Games badminton medal table in Africa.

  • Host world-class international events and develop talent centres.

 Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)

  • KPIs are defined for each pillar with 2032 targets.

  • Quarterly reviews, annual reports, and independent audits.

  • Digital dashboards for real-time tracking.

  • Public transparency display via the GBA website.

 Governance & Sustainability

  • Move toward financial independence through commercial revenue, sponsorship, and a share company model.

  • Maintain a professional office with paid staff and volunteers.

  • Enhance brand image via media, website, and social campaigns.
