Ghana Unveils Elite Squad for 2025 African AirBadminton Championships
Defending Champions Begin Intensive Training Ahead of Historic Global Tournament Series
Accra, Ghana – June 17, 2025 – The Ghana Badminton Association (GBA) today announced its national team for the 2025 African AirBadminton Championships, marking the first step in Ghana's unprecedented hosting of the AirBadminton World Series. The defending African champions will begin residential training this weekend to prepare for both the continental championships and their role as hosts of the global AirBadminton tournament series from July 3-6, 2025, at the Laboma Beach Resort. The 2025 season represents a historic moment for Ghanaian sports, with the nation simultaneously defending its continental title while hosting one of five global AirBadminton World Series tournaments - the first major international badminton event in West Africa.

The Championship Squad

- Leslie Nii Adote Addo-Osu, Greater Accra Region(Men's Triple, Mix Team Relay)
- Ahmad Abdul-Samad-Bimbila, Upper West Region(Men's Triple, Mix Team Relay)
- Moslena Ama Korama Adu-Agona Nyakrom, Central Region Region(Women's Triple, Mix Team Relay)
- Charity Naah-Waa, Upper West Region(Women's Triple, Mix Team Relay)
- Jennifer Eduam-Kasoa, Central Region Region (Women's Triple, Mix Team Relay)
- Ebenezer Korampong, Tema, Greater Accra Region (Men's Triple, Mix Team Relay)
- Brempong Ofori-Acheampong, Koforidua, Eastern Region (Men's Triple, Mix Team Relay)

Historic Double Challenge
The team faces a landmark season:
- Defend Africa's crown at the Continental Championships
- Compete against 17 nations in Ghana's hosting of the AirBadminton World Series (July 3-6, 2025) - one of only five global host nations

The 27th Edition of the GUSA Games was back because of the COVID-19 outbreak and its subsequent rescheduling. The major university multi-sport event, organized by GUSA, fielded the most active racket sport at the University Games. The University of Ghana, Accra, hosted the last university sports event.
(UEW), Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AMMUSTED), the University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS), WA, the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and the University of Development Studies (UDS). These Universities took part in the Mix Team and Individual Events, with UEW topping the medal table with 6 Gold, 3 Silver and one bronze, whilst KNUST placed second place with 2 Silver medals, UG placed third with 1 Silver and four bronze whilst UCC was placed fourth with one bronze medal. AMMUSTED, UDS, UBIS and UPSA will look towards winning an award in the next edition, rekindling the success of fledgling players in the Competition.
