Adu-Mintah demonstrated resilience and skill on his path to the Men's Singles quarterfinals. After a dominant win over Egypt's Anas Eslam (21-13, 21-12) in the Round of 32, he faced a tough challenge from the UAE's Zeeshan Backer. In a thrilling three-game battle, Adu-Mintah clinched a nail-biting victory with a score of 21-15, 19-21, 22-20.

The team secured a perfect 10-0 match victory over Uganda in the Mixed Team Relay, propelling them into the tournament’s knockout stage and setting up a high-stakes clash with European champions, Slovakia.

The dominant 2-0 tie victory, achieved on Tuesday, October 7, was built on winning every single match across two segments in the unique Relay format, showcasing unparalleled depth and skill.

The final 2-0 tie score tells only part of the story. In the Mixed Team Relay format, the overall victory is secured by winning the best of three match segments, with each segment comprising five matches: Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. Ghana not only won the first two segments to clinch the tie but did so without conceding a single match to their opponents, completing a stunning 10-0 clean sweep.

Accra-Ghana -19 September 2025- Ghana's rising badminton stars, Obapomba Adu-Mintah and Rachael Quarcoo, have been selected to represent the nation at the Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA) Youth Training Camp in Cairo, Egypt. This prestigious selection marks a significant step in their athletic careers and a crucial part of their preparation for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. The camp, which gathers the continent's most promising junior talent, is designed to provide world-class coaching and competition experience.

The camp, a cornerstone of the BCA's strategic development plan, is scheduled for October 20-27, 2025, and will be conducted by renowned international expert Christian Madsen of Denmark. The initiative is designed to empower Africa's top youth players by providing world-class coaching and invaluable international exposure.

In a significant opportunity to gain competitive experience, the selected players will first compete in the Egypt Junior International Tournament from October 20-22, 2025. This tournament will serve as a perfect preparatory platform ahead of the intensive training camp.

The African Body will provide comprehensive support for the athletes, covering:

To: All Member Associations, Clubs, Players, and the General Public

Reference: L.I. 2477

This notice serves as a critical directive from Ghana Badminton, the National Governing Body for the sport, regarding the Sports Regulations, 2023 (L.I. 2477). This legislation mandates that only Ghana Badminton is authorized to grant written approval for the organization of badminton events in Ghana.

Please be advised that organizing or participating in any unapproved sporting event constitutes a criminal offence under Ghanaian law. Violators are subject to severe penalties, including substantial financial fines and imprisonment for a term of up to five (5) years.

Compliance with this law is mandatory. All members and the public must verify the official sanctioning of any event directly with Ghana Badminton to avoid these serious legal consequences.

Specific Warning on Unauthorized Entities:
It has come to our attention that an unauthorized group, identified as the Shuttle Club Association Ghana (SCAG), is being operated by individuals including Frank Boamah and Theophilus Mensah. This group also involves Camera Kwesi Obeng and Phillip George Kweku Baah, both of whom are currently serving a ban from all badminton-related activities until 2032.

This group's request for official recognition has been formally denied by the Ministry of Sport and Recreation. As clearly stated in their correspondence (Ref: attached), "Sections 3(1), 5, 26 and 27 of the Sports Regulations, 2023 (L.I. 2477)" are invoked, confirming that the Ministry "shall not register or license more than one national sports association for a particular sporting discipline." The Ministry has explicitly directed SCAG to contact Ghana Badminton for any matters related to the sport.

Available information indicates that these individuals, despite this official rejection, have solicited sponsorship from corporate and public institutions for an unauthorized event, resulting in financial commitments and subsequent demands for refunds since yesterday. This activity is a gross violation of the Sports Regulations, and they are been persecuted by law

Furthermore, these individuals attempted to register an entity named "Shuttle Club Association Ghana, LBG" with the Office of the Company Registry. This entity has been barred and removed from the official register by government action. 

Directive:
Henceforth, all Associations, Clubs, and the general public are required to take note of this notification and ensure strict compliance. Organizing or participating in any unapproved event is illegal. Protect the integrity of the sport and yourselves by ensuring all activities are lawful. Regulations 3(1-5), 26-28, and 62(1) are in full force.

The prestigious tournament, which has drawn over 1,663 participants from 73 nations, is underway in Pattaya, Thailand, from September 6-14, 2025.

Competing in the fiercely contested Men's Singles 50+ category, Coomar's pioneering participation marks a significant leap for Ghanaian badminton, showcasing its growing reach and competitive spirit on the world stage. His presence among the globe's finest senior athletes underscores the universal power of dedication and passion for sport.

"Witnessing Amitabh Coomar compete on this global platform was a moment of immense pride and glory for Ghana," said Yeboah Evans, President of the Ghana Badminton Federation. Accra, Ghana – August 12, 2025 – The JE Wilson Ghana Junior International 2025 badminton championships concluded in spectacular fashion as Ghana and Nigeria dominated the medal standings at the U-19 finals, held on Sunday at the Borteyman Sports Complex.

The final day of the U-19 tournament featured five thrilling finals: men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. While Ghana had previously swept five out of six gold medals at the U-15 level, they fell just short of replicating that feat this time but still delivered an outstanding performance.

Ghana’s first gold came in the women’s doubles, where the dynamic duo of Moslena Ama Koramah Adu and Rachael Quarcoo overpowered Egypt’s Karma Elghandour and Salma Salah Edin in a commanding victory. The pair’s stellar teamwork and precision secured them the top spot on the podium.

The host nation struck gold again in the mixed doubles, with national champion Obapomba Adu Mintah and his twin sister, Moslena Ama Koramah Adu, triumphing over compatriots Francis Obeng and Rachael Quarcoo in an all-Ghanaian final.

Nigeria, however, asserted its dominance in the men’s singles events. Saidu Aliyu claimed gold in the singles final after defeating fellow Nigerian Aderinola Samuel in a hard-fought match. The duo then teamed up to secure another gold in the men’s doubles, showcasing Nigeria’s rising badminton talent.
